The glorious 12th…..!
Tomorrow is a huge day 🏊🏼♂️🚴🏼♂️🏋🏼♀️
Our sacred pools and gyms reopen 🙌🏼 but does that mean we need to go and ‘smash out a session’? Absolutely not.
“Rome wasn’t built in a day”
I accept we’re all looking forward to being back in our home from homes, but we need to be cautious, we need to take a lot of time and look after our bodies as we aren’t at the same fitness / strength as we were pre-covid.
From a swim perspective, an old coach of mine said to me “a week out of the water is two weeks back in”, so in essence it’s going to take a long time to rebuild.
As athletes, we’re in a brilliant position to be able to learn new skills and delete bad habits from our memory, let’s learn skills that are going to make our movements easier, smoother, faster and stronger in the future!
My main message to everyone is to take your time.
It would be very interesting to do a study on development of injuries over the next four weeks of athletes from all sports who have gone back to a full time programme of coaching / training.
Please, please take care when getting back in the water or back on the weight bench.
